This is a multi-sized pattern for boys and men in 22 sizes from boys size 2 to mens extra large. It is a relaxed fit button down shirt.
There are 22 sizes that allow for adjust for size and height.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It looks like the drawing, but I made some modifications.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I have never used the directions for this. I use the directions that David Coffin gives in his Shirtmaking book. On my version, the directions are printed on the super large sheet.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I mostly dislike that the pattern has been discontinued. I have used this for four boys/men through their growing.
What I really like is that this is a standard pattern. While it isn't the slim fit that is currently in style for men, it works well for growing boys. It is is very versatile and I think the day that my pattern is no longer useable I will be sitting in the corner crying.
I used a large irregular cotton flannel plaid fabric that kept skewing. I made it work, but had some issues.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added 2 inches to the length and ended up with only 3/4" added to the sleeves. I also added an extra pocket and pocket flaps with buttonholes. The yoke, the pockets and the flaps were all cut on the diagonal.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I may retire this for hubby, but I will definitely be making this for my growing boys and one of their friends has a request for a shirt for summer.
I would definitely recommend this.
I had some issues with this shirt and almost gave up. For more pictures visit my blog, Mrs. Toad Sews
