I used this top pattern to make a long sleeve knit dress and it is now my very favourite dress to wear this winter. front back
Earlier I had turned this top pattern into a dress, that I was very happy with. You can read the first review here.
This was a sleeveless version and althoug I can wear it with a cardigan, I really wanted something warmer for the winter so I added the sleeves from the Birgitte basic tee, also from Maria Denmark.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Well I turned it into a dress and added long sleeves, but for the rest sure!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very easy. I did make this pattern twice before but I still like to follow the instructions just in case.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love that the sleeves from the Birgitte tee fit this pattern, it makes both patterns so much more versatile.
I have no idea what it is called. It is a warm woolly knit fabric? very soft and stretchy. Feels like I am wearing pajamas but looks dressed up!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added the sleeves and lenghtened to a dress. I also lengthened the sleeves 10cm to accomodate my long arms. This is what makes me so happy about sewing my own clothes: I think I have sleeves that are the right lenght for the first time in my adult life!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I have to hold myself back from making this all the time because there is a limit to the amount of drape tops/dresses a person needs. I will make it again at least once for my sister though. And maybe another long sleeved top for myself...
Great pattern, great instructions, easy to modify and add to.
