|Skirt and blouse|
Pattern Sizing: too complicated to work out
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
The skirt did. The blouse with some imagination applied
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I consider myself an advanced seamstress however I struggled to make sense of the instructions.
I got the impression the pattern was first created in Swahili and then someone (who doesn't have either a good command of Swahili or English) did the translation. Words were missing and instructions were pathetic.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I couldn't for the life of me work out why (for example) you'd join two pieces of the paper pattern together BEFORE you cut out the fabric (I'm referring to pieces 5 and 5A of the skirt). Why not just make 5 the same of the finished product with 5A already included?
The top could NOT be called loose fitting by any stretch of the imagination.
I made the skirt first - which turned out far too big and I was worried the top would be like a tent (if only!).
Jersey for the skirt and stretch taffeta for the blouse.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
In fact, I'm putting the entire completed garment on the internet for sale.
This the first Betzina pattern I've made and after this experience I won't go anywhere near any other pattern.
