Pattern Description:
'These simple and cute shorts are so quick to sew, you could make them in every color. Pockets are set into a front side seam and optionally close with buttons. The shorts sport a 4 1/2 inch inseam length and close with an invisible side zipper.'
Pattern Sizing:
0-18. I made size 6 with minor adjustments (see below).
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, excellent.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like that the pockets are placed towards the front so they are easy to get to. I found that the pocket opening was too small to get my hands into easily.
Fabric Used:
I have made two pairs, both in stretch woven fabric. The pattern does not call for stretch fabric, but it worked well for me.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I found the waist was too tight for me and the waistband too small to fit the shorts. To fix this I graded the sides out above the hips by about a centimetre and used a size 12 waistband, which was much better. I also opened up the pocket opening by about 2cm and cut bigger pockets to fit the larger opening and my (large) hands! I had to secure the bottom of the bigger pockets into the hem so they didn't show below the hemline when I sat down. Finally I took the inside leg seam in a bit to make it sit better.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I love this pattern and will definitely be making it many more times. I've worn the shorts a lot and feel very comfortable and not like I'm showing too much leg! Definitely recommended.
Conclusion:
This is a very flattering shorts pattern that is straightforward to make and really comfortable to wear. I love it!

Your shorts looks great and I wouldn't have noticed the pattern placement issue if you hadn't pointed it out so I would not worry too much about that.
