Pattern Description:
The beautiful BHL 'Georgia' dress pattern, options to have thick wide straps or skinny straps, mini and midi length.

I opted for the skinny straps, and lenthened the skirt to maxi length, with a thigh high split (inspired by 'Anna' dress).

Pattern Sizing:
I cut a 2/6 bust, 6/10 waist, 2/6 hips.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Looks just like the envelope, except for the length and the split.

Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instruction booklet is very detailed, the BHL girls have done well. The sewalong blog posts on the BHL site was what helped me the most.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Sweet heart neckline and the va va voom shape.

Fabric Used:
I used 2m of rayon.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Adjustments: small bust adjustment, shallow chest adjustment (details on adjustments click here)
Design changes: lengthened the skirt, added thigh high split.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
This is my second Georgia, I absolutely love this pattern. There are some tricky bits, such as joining the "Y" looking seam (joining bodice to skirt) but once you know how to do it, it's easy.
I recommend using a stable, medium weight fabric, will be easier and the dress will hold a better shape. I took a gamble with the rayon and it paid off, but I think the rayon only worked because of the MAXI LENGTH, had it been a mini or midi Georgia, the rayon would not have worked for this pattern, fabric is too light.
I will be sewing another Georgia next week, in cotton sateen.

I made this dress to wear to my girlfriend's wedding. I was a guest/witness/unofficial bridesmaid. It was a garden wedding so the fabric was perfect. The colorfulness of the dress looks spectacular in the wedding pics, just saw a preview today. I have more photos of the dress and construction details on my blog, Click Here.

Thank you for reading. Hope you enjoy Georgia as much as I have!

Wow! This looks great! I read your blog post as well, and the slit really gives the dress that extra kick. Fabric is totally great as well.
