|Pattern Description: |
Women's flattering stretch jeans with slim fit through the hips and thigh and a flared leg, back and side front pockets, zip fly with button closure.
27 sizes included! Yikes!
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
yes, except I removed most of the flair from the leg bottom.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were pretty good. I had problems with the fly instructions. I used Sandra Betzina's directions instead. Fly zipper tutorial
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I dislike the 27 sizes in one. Sent my husband to the commercial copy store and had copies run off so I didn't have to trace. Each large pattern sheet cost about $3.oo to run off. (There are 2 large pattern sheets) I had him make me 2 additional of each and cut these instead.
Lighter weight stretch denim from Joann's with a white pinstripe. Feels about 6 ounce or so?
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made numerous adjustments. My first practice pair was made with a non stretch cotton. Size R and the low rise version. They came out WAY too tight and too low. So for my real pair I went with size T. Still tight in the thighs so used a 1/4 seam allowance. Also switched to the regular rise for this pair being reviewed. I find the regular rise a tad bit higher than I like so will adjust accordingly next pair. Just kept basting and trying on the jeans until I achieved the fit I wanted. I also interfaced the waistband with midweight pellon, (which is not called for in the directions). As other reviewers have mentioned this reduces the waistband ease so adjust accordingly. Also, next time I will make the left fly extension wider as the topstitching did not catch it in and I had to rip and redo. I cut the pockets down to the size of my favorite ready to wear jeans. I think the pocket pattern is awfully large for size T. I used Gutermann topstitch thread on top and regular thread in the bobbin. Used same needle (jeans needle) for both regular sewing and topstitching. Tightened upper thread tension when topstitching and lengthened stitch.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I want to make it again and keep tweaking. I highly recommend this pattern. The jeans come out great!
I am number 158 and counting to make this pattern! I wore mine for 2 days. So comfortable. And I often have problems fitting other slack patterns so I was kinda shocked!
