Pattern Description:
A pattern with a fitted dress with centre back zip and wide waist yoke. Pattern includes a jacket.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, very clear
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love this pattern, but would prefer it with pockets, though they wouldn't be tricky to add.
Fabric Used:
A wool - I managed to squeeze it out of a skirt length, 60 x 36 inches, for a size 8 on the bust grading to a 12 on the hips.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Grading the pattern to allow for bigger hips, after having made the 10 and finding it a little shapeless. See My first 5699 I also decided to finish the neckline with bias binding. I didn't topstitch, which is suggested to define the yoke, neckline, etc. I don't trust my topstitching, and on the thickness of wool it would have been tricky.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I probably will sew it again, as I'm so happy with the fit now.
I think it's a great pattern to use for wool. More pictures of the two dresses I've made in this pattern on my blog

Gorgeous dress and fit--love the belt! It appears you are getting the upper hand over those zips and the red lining is such a sassy touch!

Aw, thank you all so much. You've given me a lot of confidence. I've always sewn, but have only just started making dresses, so it's all a steep learning curve to me and I wing it half the time. Just wish I'd started a lot earlier! I am starting to get more comfortable about zips! I always get asked about the belt. I've had it for years - I really cannot remember where I picked it up, but I love belts, and it's definitely one of my favourites. It's metal on leather, and each metal disc has the Chinese Year Signs.
