|Pattern Description: |
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The construction method and quarter inch seam allowances
I used a black bamboo organic cotton Lycra French terry fabric for the pants, and cotton Lycra French terry for the waistband. Both were from The Fabric Fairy online.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made the waistband as a single piece, using the same pattern piece as the waistband facing. I also added half an inch of height to the waistband so it would sit closer to my natural waist.
I made a size V but cut the length on the size K line to make capris. I should have tapered the bottom of the legs a bit, but I forgot to do it before hemming, and then I was too lazy.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?I would definitely make this again. They are a little too close fitting for me, so I'll probably go up one more size next time.
Conclusion: This was a great pattern/fabric combo. The bamboo French terry from Fabric fairy is wonderfully soft and easy to work with. It doesn't curl or make a mess, and the weight is just right for pants.
Another reviewer had suggested using the walking foot for construction, this worked well. All in all it was a pleasant sewing experience!
