This is a lovely pattern for an elegant simple dress. I seem to love this neckline because I keep making dresses with it. My favourite dress to wear to the office at the moment.
I used size 14 for the bodice and 16 for the skirt, which is usual for me for Vogue patterns.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, exactly how I had imagined it.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes they were. However, I would use a different order of construction next time because the way this is constructed, it all looks a big mess untill the very last moment when you finish the neckline. I much prefer adding linings the other way round, starting with the neckline and doing the side seams the last.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Nothing to dislike, it's a great style.
It says 'pearl peach by penelope europe' on the side. I have tried to find it on Google but no luck. I found someone with another fabric with the same name though... and that is rayon. So maybe this is rayon? I like it, whatever it is. It was difficult to sew with for me, because I have never used it before. But it screamed V1351 to me so I had to try. Luckily it worked out fine.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I read in other reviews that the armhole was too low so I made that higher. I shouldn't have done that because now it is too high. It's fine when I'm at work but when I want to lounge around and thus am not in an 'upright position', they are uncomfortable. No big deal because I just change when I get home from work. It is one of my favourite dresses for work.
I don't have a lot of movement in my shoulder so I changed the side zip to go all the way to the armhole. There was no way I would be able to get in or out otherwise.
The other alterations I made are usual for me: lengthening the bodice, grading from bodice size 14 to hips size 16. I wanted to lenghten the skirt as well but I ran out of fabric. It's ok as is though but next time I would make it longer.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?I wouldn't sew it again at the moment but that is because with this dress and my Maria Denmark drape top dresses I already have three with this neckline.
But then again, I might do what I did with the Maria Denmark dress and see if I can add sleeves. That would be nice for another one.
