|Pattern Description: |
Fitted and tapered pants with top-stitching details and cuffs and back zipper
8-16 I made size 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were okay. I had issues with my front pants pattern piece as it was missing some markings to indicate the top-stitching. Not a huge deal as I ended up not topstitching. Easy pattern with no pockets, simple zipper and waistband. There are side front and back pants pieces which is nice because there are more seams to make adjustments.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the 4 leg seams. I like the simple waistband. I like that in the size 12, for me, the thighs had a perfect amount of ease with no adjustment. I hate for my pants to be tight in this area.
Black textured ponte knit from JoAnn's.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I didn't do the topstitching at the front hip area, because my textured black fabric made it impossible for me to see where I was going. I did attempt some topstitching of the front leg seam but even with a strong light and glasses I couldn't find the seam line well enough to do a neat job! If your fabric is smooth and plain the design detail would be nice though. You can see the topstitching detail on the line drawing on the pattern envelope. It is 6" long, 1/8 spaced lines running vertically down the front of the hip area.
I used the 5/8 seams throughout except at the waist where I needed to take in 2 additional inches. I also removed some fabric from the front seam tapering down to where the crotch curve starts.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I think this might be one to make again. A basic pair of slimming pants and a pattern that fits me well.
I have been trying different Vogue pants patterns. This is the third similar knit pattern and the second from this lovely black ponte. Vogue 8929 Click Here I made from same fabric. That pair has big side pockets. Vogue 8837 Click Here is a knit pattern with an elastic waist. So they all have things to recommend them.
