Pattern Description: Loose-fitting jacket or coat has collar variations and topstitching. A and B: lined, side pockets, and asymmetrical snap closing. C: stitched hem on sleeves, and belt. C and D: unlined, side front pockets, and purchased optional bias tape to finish raw edges.
I made view B with the high collar.
Pattern Sizing: XS (4-6) - XXL (24-26)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? No, the collar was so high it came above my chin. I modified where the snaps were located so that it closed differently and I folded the collar down.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the collar and that it is a lined coat.
Fabric Used: A heavy weight cotton blend that was in the Home Dec department at Joann Fabrics.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I cut a M (12-14) but it was HUGE. I ended up taking in all of the seams by 1" and it was much better. I took out the pockets during that adjustment.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would not sew it again. It was a lot of work for such a disappointing finish with the collar not working out as shown on the pattern. I would recommend it because it is a different look, but be cautious of the ease and the collar issue.
Conclusion: I love my coat and will enjoy wearing it. I especially love my fabric choices (fabric & lining).
