|Pattern Description: Jacket Express is a grown-up version of the blue jean jacket, but it's not just for denim!|
Jacket Express is a grown-up version of the blue jean jacket, but it's not just for denim! The hemline has been dropped and rounded to flatter all figure types. Seams are finished with optional double topstitching for the classic sportswear look. Instructions for the Jacket Express are created for faster construction by using a unique, out of traditional sequence construction order and simple ready-to-wear techniques.
Pattern Sizing:XXs- 4X, I sewed an M
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes!!!!!
Were the instructions easy to follow?I took it as a Craftsy class and followed the video and the booklet. The pattern instructions are in a booklet (rather than a large sheet of paper like most instructions). The Craftsy class was really easy to follow as I could go back and review portions of it.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It's not really an easy item to sew. The pattern isn't necessarily difficult, but all the top-stitching can drive a person bonkers. The seams were all prepared at a certain size, so there was no trimming down, but there was also no fitting possible while sewing it.
Luckily I picked the right size from the start.
Fabric Used:A Denim from Fabric.com
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I used a straight size M based on my measurements, but I added 2" totally to the hips, so 1/2" at each side seam only. It was the perfect choice for me.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes, I will sew it again, but I still have to recuperate from the top-stitching. I would use a little lighterweight fabric and make the top-stitching not be so visible, just to take the stress off of the sewing. My stitching is almost as perfect as it can be....but that was a lot of hard work.
Conclusion: The Craftsy class was $19 on sale and the pattern was included. If you're interested in the jacket, definitely wait for a sale and buy it. I also looked at the finished class items and they all look awesome, so I think it was a great investment.
