|Pattern Rating:||Easy & Great for Beginners |
|Fabric:||Wool Jersey [See other projects in this fabric]|
|Pattern Description: Semi-fitted, mid-hip shirt or jacket has French seams, funnel neck, shoulder, bust and waist darts, set in 2-pc sleeves and narrow hems on all edges|
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?somewhat.
Were the instructions easy to follow?, but I changed them to suit my project.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I like the funnel neck.
Fabric Used:wool doubleknit
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I did not do French seams or narrow hems on all edges. My fabric has a lot of body and I did not hem the sleeves or bottom, neither does it fray so not only was a hem not necessary, but it did not need a finish such as an overcast or rolled hem either. There are no facings on the front or at the neck, so I drafted them so that the funnel neck would have the body I wanted and would support the button and buttonholes better. I topstitched the darts. I sewed on suede patches and made the buttonholes there so that when the jacket is buttoned, each button is within its own square. From a sizing standpoint, I thought it ran large; I took it in to get the ease I wanted.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?I am happy with how it turned out. I will probably make a vest next year from some melted wool melton in my stash.
Conclusion: A nice addition to my winter wardrobe, its warm and stylish.
