Fabric:Slinky  [See other projects in this fabric]
Pattern Description: Very loose-fitting, pullover dress has right and left extending into collar and drape (tacked at hemline), no side seams, and partially elasticized hemline. Right and left sides are cut on crosswise grain. A: self-bias armhole binding. B: stitched hem on sleeves.

Pattern Sizing: 8-24

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Pretty much.

Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were really good! (And you really need them for the hem.) Definitely mark all the hem markings that are labeled with the letters A through H!

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The wonderful, draped hemline!

Fabric Used: A slinky knit.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I narrowed the shoulders by 1.5". This is a bit tricky in a design where there are no shoulder seams or side seams - the armhole is just a hole cut into the pattern piece. I narrowed it by moving the hole UP (toward the collar/neckline) by 1.5".

I made a size 16, but the fit through the torso will really large. I scooped about 2" out from the CF seam below the bust line. I then took two very generous tucks at the side waist where a side seam would be if there were a side seam. In all, I removed about 18" from the torso and I like the closer fit much better. (Especially on my busty frame.)

I also narrowed the sleeve hem by about 2".

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I might sew this again, though I think I would make a much smaller size so there is less volume through the torso. The dress is really comfy and the hemline is really fabulous!

Conclusion: With my fit changes, I like this design! More on the blog.

Just bought this: did you use an actual slinky knit? I have heard they are uber-difficult to work with. This madeup just great: you look fab, as always!

sfshaza, Very wonderful. How did you ever figure out how to alter this pattern??? It is interesting the amount removed from the torso for a closer fit and yet it still looks comfortable. Super job. Enjoy wearing!
