|***Please note: The navy dress appears MUCH tighter in the photo than it looks in real life. The sun was very bright and accentuated every wrinkle quite a lot. My camera died and hopefully, I can add better photos of that version later. |
Pattern Description: Close-fitting, pullover dress has self neck binding, tiers, and raw edge finish. A:Sleeves, B: Self armhole binding.
Pattern Sizing: Sizes 6 - 22
This dress runs small and is very close fitting. It has negative ease, so check the flat pattern measurements, since you might want the dress to have more ease. I normally sew an 8 through the shoulders, a 10 through the bust, and a 12 through the hips. I ended up sewing a 10 through the shoulders and a 12 through waist and hips in this pattern.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I made three versions. The first and second versions I only used the under dress pattern pieces. Those two look very different from the pattern envelope photo. The third version I made looks just like the pattern envelope.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes ... excellent instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is a FANTASTIC pattern. It is such a versatile pattern. I have made the dress three times and each dress looks very different. You can use the under dress pattern pieces to make a very basic dress with sleeves (or without). You can also use the tier pattern pieces to make a very trendy, cute, current-style dress.
Version #1: Stretch Faux Suede
Version #2: Cotton Knit
Version #3: Cotton/Poly Knit
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: For the first two versions, I used the under dress pattern pieces to make a sleeveless dress and a dress with sleeves. For the third dress, I used the tier pattern pieces to make a dress look like the one on the pattern envelope.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
YES, I would definitely recommend this pattern to others!!!! This is a fantastic pattern!!! It is a wonderful wardrobe stretcher. Just remember that it has negative-ease sizing!
Conclusion: There is a reason why this pattern is so popular! It's a very fun pattern to sew and gives a lot of wardrobe options when you realize that you can also sew the dress without the tiers for another stylish version of the dress.
