|Pattern Description: |
CHILDREN'S/GIRLS' DRESS AND CUMMERBUND: Fully underlined dress has lined bodice and an attached petticoat with netting ruffles. Lapped zipper has covered button trim. B has a contrast overskirt and purchased ribbon for sash.
Pattern Sizing:(2-5) (6-8) I made an 8.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? pretty much
Were the instructions easy to follow?I think the pleat instructions were mildly vague and I somehow screwed up a lining issue. Instructions usually tell you to NOT sew the lining. If I read two ahead I would have caught this, bad me. The cummerbund folding instructions were not evident and I faked it. The cummerbund did not turn out so hot.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I absolutely loved the sleeve detail and the simplicity yet elegance of the dress, itself.
Bridal Satin ( I could not find a matte satin, which I would have preferred.)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:nope
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I don't know if I would sew it again. I used to sew dresses quite a bit and was getting a bit more experience, but the last few years have done simple skirts and camp shirts. My experience seems to have stalled.
This is my daughter's First Communion Dress, overall I am moderately happy with it. Most of the mistakes were operator error. Rushing and not reading instructions thoroughly. My pleats look great but something didn't turn out quite right along the back zipper area. I think that might have been due to unclear instructions. The cummerbund folding instructions sucked, so if you are a novice sewer, good luck. I think the more advanced sewers would have no problem, though.
