Fabric:Ponte Knit  [See other projects in this fabric]
Pattern Description: Yoga pants (A) that are fitted through the hips and thighs and slightly flared from the knee down. The wide faced two-piece waistband allows for fun color blocking. A seam at the back of the leg provides flattering fit and easy adjustment. The shorts (B) are great for the beach or for dance or gym practice.

I made the yoga pant.

Pattern Sizing: 27 sizes F-FF. I used size V.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, it did. Quite by accident, I also used grey and black fabrics!

Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions on Jalie patterns are terrific. The written instructions are more an order of construction, but there are helpful illustrations.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the fit of the pant. I love the back leg seam. I don't love Jalie's technique for sewing knits on a machine; it created far too much thread bulk in the seams as pieces were joined together. I should add that I was also serging, as per class requirements.

Fabric Used: Rayon ponte knit in black and heather grey from Queen Textile, Toronto. This fabric is heaven to wear, especially when compared to the nylon/lycra typically used in this type of garment.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I shortened the leg by 2" (5cm).

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would definitely sew this again and highly recommend it to others who want to make the Lululemon style of yoga pant with a more breathable fabric and at an affordable price point.

Conclusion: I made these for a class that I was taking, but I had wanted to try them for some time. They fit well and I love the effect of all the topstitching, although I did not love it while I was doing it. For more information, see my blog.

Thank you! This is a terrific yoga pant and the leg-in-the-leg technique (Kwik Sew) worked really well!
