Pattern Description:
Modified shirtwaist dress, I also made a blouse version

Pattern Sizing:
0 - 18

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, but my choice of print fabric made for a disappointing outcome on the dress. I liked the blouse much better.

Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, lots of detail.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The collar is really cute, very feminine.

Fabric Used:
For the dress, a cotton blend. For the blouse, silk charmuse.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
For the dress, petite adjustments. For the blouse, I added 4 inches onto the bodice and created pleats at the bottom of the darts.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I may try the dress again, with a solid fabric.

Conclusion:
My mistake was using a print of large polka dots for the dress. I didn't like the end result, but it was not because of the Colette Pattern. I really like the blouse, because of the shine, it does not photograph well, but it was a smarter fabric choice.

I love the polka-dots! And I'm not a typically polka-dotted person. But that dress looks good on you and I'm going to suggest how to wear it. Find yourself a summer hat, shoes and lipstick the exact same shade. Swap your navy stockings for a natural shade slightly darker than your skin and if you can possibly find them - navy shorty gloves and a small navy purse. Play up that pink and navy choice and you will get compliments.

Where did you add 4 inches onto the bodice of the blouse? BTW I like the dress.

Yes, I like your dress but the blouse, oh that fabric is lucious looking! But c omparing the two is not fair. The polka dotted fabric dress is quite lovely in its own right. TFS!

Sorry that your not happy with your dress; it is very striking fabric! Maybe you could convert it into another lovely blouse and wouldn't be so overwhelmed by the polka dots?

Your adaptation of the blouse is lovely, especially the open pleats at the hem.
