This is the Dorothy / Evelyn pattern from "Making Vintage Bags" by Emma Brennan.

I made it from stash everything just to test the pattern. The Evelyn has cord handles, I think I would prefer handles as a fabric strap which I shall add next time.

I did not add the bow as I wanted to test out the rose - which does not match as well as it appears to in the photo! I think this would be the prefer bag to showcase dramatic buttons.

The instructions are not clear but anyone other than a total beginner will be fine. A beginner who has never made a bag might struggle as some of the written instructions are not supported by photos. There is a good collection of patterns with 2 variations for each pattern shown.

On my blog more bags I am testing out....

I keep coming back to lock at your bag - and really like it! I hope you find a nice button to finish it off. (I do like the rose too, but take your word for it that it the colours are not quite right). This would be a nice clutch to add to any outfit.
