|Pattern Description: This is a short sleeved, buttoned blouse, with cut-on sleeves and a mandarin collar. The ruffles on the shoulders are three strips of fabric, one sewn on the shoulder seam and the other two sewn either side of the shoulder seam.|
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Similar...but I changed a few things. See below.
Were the instructions easy to follow? They were OK.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The ruffles! Though, as noted on my blog they perhaps look a little lettuce-like in this green fabric!
Fabric Used: Cotton voile. Very light and airy!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
- eliminated the seam across the bust; just taped the pattern pieces together.
- cut the ruffle strips on the bias, and dispensed with trying to make tiny hems on them. They are lighter and rufflier this way - and don't ravel, since they are bias cut.
- removed the seam allowance from the neck line and sleeve edges and attached bias binding strips rather than the mandarin collar and sleeve bands.
- pleated the sleeves, rather than gathering.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? This is my second version...it is quite distinctive, so probably will be awhile before I make another.
Conclusion: It's different! And a bit of fun.
