Pattern Description:
From the Colette web site:

"Moneta is your new go-to dress pattern. Built for both elegance and comfort, this simple knit dress works in every season and for any occasion.

Made with knit fabric, this dress can be created in a matter of hours. With minimal pressing and just a few pattern pieces, you'll be whipping up an army of these wardrobe workhorses. Moneta is easy to make, and easy to wear. This dress is versatile, layerable, and above all, comfortable. Because Moneta feels as good as it looks, you will get a lot of wear out of these dresses.

All three styles of Moneta dresses have a gently curved, wide neckline, a fitted bodice, and a shirred skirt with in-seam pockets. Version 1 is a sleeveless dress with a lined bodice and narrow round collar that laps at the center back. Version 2 has an unlined bodice and short sleeves, while version 3 has an unlined bodice and 3/4-length sleeves."

I made the short sleeved version.

Pattern Sizing:

XS-3XL

Note that this pattern uses Colette's new extended size range, developed specifically for knits.

My bust, waist, and hip measurements all put me squarely into a 2XL, so that's basically what I sewed, but I got nervous about the negative ease at the bust and waist and added a touch to the side seams there. I don't think this was necessary--trust the size chart on this one.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes, although note that my short sleeves are the same lengths as those in the photos. In the line drawings, they appeared to be closer to elbow-length. The photos show the actual length for the short sleeved view.

Were the instructions easy to follow?

The instructions are very clear and detailed. This pattern and its instructions would be appropriate for both a beginning sewist and a newbie to knits.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

Likes: I think that the dress is really cute and flattering, even though it's a basic style. So far, it's looked great on everyone who has made it, so I think that's a testament to an awesome job of drafting and finding a style that works well on pretty much all figure types. Love that there are inseam pockets, but they're just big enough to hold a cell phone and don't really add weight to the dress.

Dislikes: None.

Fabric Used: Polka-dot poly-lycra jersey purchased from Gorgeous Fabrics several years ago.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Just a few minor ones:

* As I previously mentioned, I was nervous about the negative ease at the bust/waist and so added a little to the side seams there. I'll probably take that back out the next time that I make this dress.
* I added 1" to the CF bodice bottom, blending up to the the standard line at the side seam. This gives me a little more length over the bust. Most women won't need to do this. I felt that the dress would be too short waisted on my uber-busty figure without this.
* Scooped out the neckline to lower it by 1.5", then bound (rather than hemmed) the neckline. I did this to have a more open neckline, and I suspected that the hemming might not work as well on an open neckline.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

I will absolutely sew this again. I love the final dress. And I would definitely recommend it to others.

Conclusion:

Great basic dress pattern that's largely a blank slate for your own design imagination. I want several more of these as my throw-on-and-go dress this summer.

Update (28-Jul-2014): I made another version of the short-sleeved Moneta for the mini-wardrobe contest. For this version, I used a peacock blue cotton-spandex blend jersey from Girl Charlee. More photos and details on my blog:
