|Pattern Description: Simplicity Vintage 1940's dress|
Pattern Sizing: regular. I sewed a size 18. (Please note: normally I sew a 16 and then do a FBA. However, with the cute neckline I wasn't sure how to do the FBA. Also, I did try a muslin with a 18 in the front and 16 in the back, and it looked good, but ultimately I wanted more ease.)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. However, I do have a couple minor complaints: No where did Simplicity tell you to finish your seams after pleating the neckline. Also, I did have a problem with the sewing the front yoke to the skirt....but that could be me.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love all the wonderful details in the dress, especially the bow.
Fabric Used:Cotton Dotted Swiss from Hancock fabric
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:Lengthened the torso an inch. Used a 14" zipper instead of 16". Sewed a narrow hem on sleeves.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes, I would like to sew this again in a solid color and use 2 buttons. I would recommend this to others. I highly suggest making sure your markings are correct and even on both sides for the front pleating neckline.
Conclusion: Very cute dress with lots of wonderful details. Please check out my blog for more details and photos
