Thank you for your review. I am going to be making this in March 2011 at a sewing retreat. I wish I could see your pictures the links don't work.

I've been holding onto this pattern, a little afraid to attempt it. Your review has given me courage, and it will be one of the next things I sew! Thank you!

I love the dress! I'm systematically trying to sew all of the Vintage Vogue patterns (at least the ones I like) myself! Do you think the pattern would work well for the orphaned silk velvet I have sitting in my stash? It drapes well but still has body, but it can be very finicky to sew.

I've had this pattern for a while and am considering pulling it out and making it so I'm glad to find your review. I have a few questions however - is there a lining? I can imagine that a knit wouldn't need a lining, but I can't see that bodice in a silk crepe without one... I like the idea of using a knit in it (maybe a sparkly slinky) but I want to try to make the pattern in the intended fabric. I don't know, maybe the pattern envelope intimidates me too much...

This is exactly how Vogue should be selling the Vintage Vogue pattern line! A modern & stylish echo of the past.

Lovely dress. I even like the pleats in the soft fabric. And the shaped hem was an inspiration. Very much a designer dress look!

I think your shaped hem and fabric choice are quite wonderful. It's sort of like Donna Karan fell through a wormhole and landed in 1948. I love vintage, but I especially love wearable, modern interpretations of vintage. Yours is stunning.

Wow Judy, this dress is really fabulous. Even though you chose a vintage pattern this dress is very En Vogue.
