Mark button placement with anything of your choice except a water erasable pen. Use a small scrap of water soluable stabilizer and very slightly moisten it and put it over your "button mark." Then moisten the back of the button very slightly and put it on the mark, on top of the stabliizer. The button with stay in place. Sew the button on by machine or by hand. When you are finished, spriz with some water, and the stablizer is gone and you have not had to struggle with keeping the button in place. I used this with my machine program to sew on buttons, but would work very well for sewing on buttons by hand.
