Sewing in zipper w/painter's tape (Tip/Technique)

Featured in the PR book!
Once the zipper is pinned or basted in, take 1/2" painter's tape and center it along the seam of zipper on right-side of fabric. Then sew along edge of painter's tape w/zipper foot, on right-side of fabric. Remove tape and you will have 1/4" sewing line from seam and center of zipper.

I am so thrilled to hear that 1/2 inch painter's tape is now availabe. I have looked high and low for it for zippers as well. Thank you for letting us know! I agree that it is the easier way of sewing in a zipper. Also remember to put in a strip of iron on interfacing in the zipper seam line a bit wider than the seam allowance. This helps stabalize the zipper and the finished look.
