I find it much easier to thread a needle whether a sewing machine needle or hand stitching nnedle, if I put my finger on the hole in the back of the needle, it is MUCH easlier to see the hole and when the thread is placed to hole in front you can slide your finger and it grabs the tread! I hope this makes sence, because it helps me so much because I can't see a thing!

I read this somewhere and I always do this. I don't know why it works, but it does. The source I read said that with a sewing machine needle, when you push the thread it doesn't have anywhere else to go but through the eye of the needle. That sort of doesn't make sense.

Well, having recently reached the age of 45, in addition to the puffy midsection of my body, my eyes are failing. I will try your method next time I sew!
