| I store my patterns in a clear ziplock bag and after making each garment I place a scrap of fabric in the bag at the front so at a glance I can recognise the fabric and know which pattern I used for that garment. Sometimes I have current patterns hanging on hangars if I'm making a couple of one thing. I also pin fabric to these patterns so I can find the pattern I'm looking for at a glance...saves looking for the pattern numbers on the tissue. |
You could also sew in one of those hand-made tags and write it on there.

I like noting it in the garment itself like arianamaniacs said. This way I know exactly which pattern to pull right away. No looking through patterns to find the right one.
