When I fill a bobbin with thread, I like to keep it with the spool it came from - it saves time hunting and wondering if I have one made - once I switch colors. This may sound silly, but has worked...I grab a thin rubber band (often the ones from newspapers) and two safety pins. After I align the holes in the middle of the spool and bobbin, I drop the rubber band down the hole, then secure each end with a safety pin. The tension of the rubber band keeps 'em snug, and the safety pins keep the band from disappearing inside.
My cheesy diagram :
&-(--------------)-(----)-&
& - safety pin
--- - rubber band
( ) - spool
( ) - bobbin
Hope that makes sense ! Of course, you could use toothpicks instead of safety pins, or elastic instead of rubber bands ! Add a needle and a button to the elastic,, and you'd have an emergency sewing kit !

Thanks for the creative diagram! Good idea--I wonder if I have a filled bobin for my colors too. |

Nice idea! I've been eyeing those bobbin keeper things that hold a bobbin on a spool, but gritting my teeth at the price. I LIKE this idea!!! |
