Hoping that three stars is the top dog... confusing, as it is immediately followed with thumbs-down...

I did the class in summer of 2009. And am going again at the end of April to repeat and make a different dress form - wearing my proper Civil War Era Corset so I can make a CW Era clothing that fits over my cinched in and pushed up body.

Seams reasonable yes?

I thought a pre-review would be useful in alerting others that a custom fit dress form could be theirs for a reasonable investment in time, funds, and energy.

My class in 2009 was held at Janie's Sewing Corner in Cleveland Ohio. Janie brings in many sewing educators and that is the case with Jan Bones for this particular class. Jan's website has additional information as well. Google for Lingerie Secrets Jan Bones and you will find it pronto.

Class format --After introductions and the passing out of materials class participants formed into work groups of 3 each and took turns taping each other. Jan seemed to be everywhere at once assisting and helping all get the best possible result. There was much laughter and good times. I am going to add a photo of my taped up body to my flicker account. Not sure how to get it to paste into this review, but it does illustrate the end result. Look for ElnaNancy there. I ask all of you to not copy or paste those elsewhere... thank you for understanding my position on this one!

The class for 2011 is the last Saturday in April. Janie has a website and additional information could be had there as well.

If someone can tell me how to put photos into this review, I would be most grateful... then I could take them off Flickr and be most happy!

I recommend a dress form, and one that mimics your own body as a most useful sewing tool. The commercial dial adjust style forms don't allow for vertical adjustments just circumference and might be OK enough for the very young and svelt. The plaster casting method would be my true heart's desire but they are on the West Coast and I am here in OH., This paper tape method is far less $$ and gets the job done. I think it is also more accurate than duct tape (which I did about 10 yrs ago).

Everyone keep in mind it is most humbling to see your own collection of lumps and bumps and sags.. So have a good laugh to over come the shock of it all. Your fitting & sewing results will improve dramatically and I think the trauma to the psyche is worth the gains to be had.

Hope to see someone who reads this in class... see you there!

Thanks for this review. I can't find a link to the Flickr page?? I am most interested in learning about this. I did the duct tape form and I am pleased with it. But I'd like to see this one.
