|I've been sewing clothes for our granddaughter lately, using mostly cotton fabrics, so groups of buttonholes are required for closures. I'd noticed before that my sewing machine needles would dull by the time the buttonholes were sewn, so I'd change to a new needle.
When sewing a little dress with 7 buttonholes last week, I could only find a size 14 quilting needle. (Note to self: stock up at next sale.) So I tried the quilting needle and was thrilled to see the lovely quality of the buttonhole stitches!
Quilting needles are extra-sharp and made to go through layers of fabric and batting, so they work well with the layers of fabric and interfacing. Try them!
