| Possibly I am the last person in the world to appreciate this, but just in case I'm not, here goes: I am so pleased to discover the many uses of what seems to known as a Ditch Quilting Foot. Mine is Janome, but there will be others similar, with a centre position metal blade to guide along the seams of a pieced quilt. I haven't been in any ditches yet, but I have used it by positioning the guide blade to follow the edge of garment, hem, fell seam, pocket, facing seam etc. for all kinds of topstitching and understitching. If the needle drop position on your machine can be altered, perfectly parallel topstitching becomes easy. |
maybe second last I never thought of that either!mthanks for the tip!

I have a similar stitch in the ditch foot. I'm pleased to learn that it can be used to topstitch pockets. I never thought of that. Thanks.

I use mine all the time for this. I love how perfect topstitching looks when you're done. I never thought of it as a "TIP" so good on you for taking the time to write it up.

I have this foot, but for some reason I never think to use it. Thanks for the tip & reminder!

Yes, my topstitching has improved tremendously since I started using this foot several years ago.
