Pin small safety pins on the right side of the fabric where you are leaving the opening for turning. The safety pins, one on each side of the opening, will help you find the opening by touch after you have stitched the long, spiral seams.

I have found that after seaming over 2 yards of soft, silky fabric the opening would just disappear into the spiral tube. Feeling for the safety pins helped me tremendously in finding that opening.

Pinning on the right side just makes it easier to remove them when you’re ready to close up.
