Wow, I cannot say enough good things about this one day seminar. Peggy Sagers, the owner of Silhouette Patterns, is holding this seminar in select cities throughout the U.S. I attended the March 10th seminar in Atlanta.
During the first two hours of the seminar, Peggy gave a lecture on how to fit yourself. She had several people come up and she demonstrated how to fix their fitting issues. But that was just a preview to the really fun stuff.
The afternoon was spent fitting and draping muslins we made at home before the seminar. I had assumed that the audience would be fitting each other, and Peggy would check our work. Wrong! Peggy fit everybody. It was a group experience. The audience helped diagnose the fit issues, then Peggy would make the changes needed.
It was so helpful to see her fit one person after another, and by the end of the day, I felt like I had a pretty good handle on how to make fitting changes. I feel so much more confident about how to make a patten work for me.
The seminar was $50, including lunch.
I highly recommend this class. If you go, make sure to take a muslin (directions on how to do construct the muslins are on her website.) You certainly don't have to, but why pass up a chance to have a fitting expert tweak your muslin?
Also, if you wear something you made from a Silhouette pattern you are entered in a drawing to win a spot in one of her New York fabric shopping trips.
This seminar was the day after the Original Sewing and Quilting Expo in Atlanta, and I have to say, this was by far the most educational day I had this weekend! The format of the class and the teacher combined to make for an in-depth learning experience. The expo classes, while fun, just couldn't measure up to this.

I'm so glad you found it to be a helpful workshop, because I'll be attending the one in Chicago next month!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm scheduled to attend a class in West Palm Beach, FL on April 14th. I've got to get one of the suggested muslins going......
