This was a millinery class, that was a two day event and you created a hat inspired by one of the styles from the PBS series Downton Abbey. JudithM's is located in Lagrange, Indiana in a wonderful old building. They provided the hat blocks to use and you could purchase most supplies at the class. Laura Whitlock was the instructor, who is a theatre costumer, and also teaches costuming at DePaul university near Chicago. There were three of us in the class, so we had undivided attention. I made a straw blocked hat and had a good time dressing it up with a variety of trims. The other ladies were more experienced than I and made hats using a flat pattern method. I learned tons and will go back for more classes as time allows. The store does most of it sales by mail order and they have real petersham, veiling in a bunch of colors, blocks, books and anything else you would need. I am sure there will be pics of us on their Facebook page. i now have a lovely hat to wear this summer when I need sun protection or when I need to make a statement. I highly recommend judithM and their classes!
