I read through Ruby's tips. I had good results with coconut oil - a very small amount. I kept rubbing some on my leather needle. I previously had tried to remove the glue from the dots with nail polish remover and rubbing alcohol - both seemed to make the problem worse. Lubrications seems to be the key.
