|I ripped apart some RTW capris that fit me well, made a pattern on freezer paper, and added legs for pants. I marked lines for "shorts" and "capris" on the pants pattern. I have done that before, but my body has changed a bit and it was time for a re-do. However, this was my first time ever making welt pockets, so I researched. I found there are many ways to make welt pockets so I did what made sense to me from the pieces of my pattern. (There is also a review on the gallery.) I have such problems getting the crotch right on commercial patterns, so I started making slopers or blocks from RTW, then use those when I cut commercial patterns while still keeping the details of why I purchased the pattern. In the long run, it saves tons of frustration! I hope the photos and captions help someone in making welt pockets, and as I said, there are many ways!
