I've just finished viewing the newly offered Leather 101 on PatternReview. It's 3 hours of video, discussing kinds of leather, supplies, equipment , seams, darts, pockets, bound buttonholes and more, plus walking through the construction of a sleeveless, lined peplum top(Vogue 8815) made from suede (which includes how to put in an invisible zipper!)

If you are looking into sticking your big toe into leather sewing, this is a great starting place. Even if you know lots, it's still a good class because Kenneth D. King is so very generous with his knowledge. I've peppered him with construction questions about pleated leather skirts, how to make leather piping and a bunch of other construction details that have nothing to do with the peplum top and he's answered every question. The tricks for leather bound buttonholes were worth the price of admission for me--I've been practicing bound button holes on some slightly stained leather and learning something every time.
