This is the first Sewing(Quilting)Expo I have ever attended. Let me start by saying, the venue was wonderful. Not a typical "coliseum" type of building. This building had very comfortable rooms for individual classes and a huge, but not "drafty" exhibition hall.

I took two classes. Insider Techniques, with Louise Cutting and Pants Fitting with Sarah Veblen. Both ladies were excellent instructors and very easy to listen too. Both were equally generous with their time and knowledge.

The Expo was geared mostly towards quilting. That being said, there was plenty for the garment/craft sewers to enjoy. The major sewing machine and quilting machine vendors were represented. I found the material offerings to be all over the playing field. Not just quilting cottons. Batiks were popular with a couple of the vendors. Louise Cutting had a large variety of Italian Linen and soft knits. Loralie Designs had an eye popping display of her work. There was an area set up with a large fabric variety.

The three of us ladies, came home with purchases. One bought about 3 of Louise Cutting's patterns. One bought another designer's pattern and a lovely blue knit/rayon blend to make a cardi. I found some great novelty material, a dice print to make hubby a new "casino" shirt and some "Maxine" for a possible fun purse. Zippers 2/$1.00. Frogs, $1.00 each or 3 for $2.00. Buttons and trims of all types.

While walking around this Expo, I was told by more than one person that this was one of the nicest venues they had been in. Lots of Restroom(very important to some of use ;-) ) A little snack/cafe with a good variety of offerings. Also located very close to a very nice motel and a Wegmans supermarket(where we had dinner before heading home). The entire area is full of shops and eateries, but not to the point of being congested.

If you like anything remotely dealing with fabric or sewing, go to an Expo. I am already planning to go back to this one when/if it returns to Fredericksburg.
