I've owned a serger for about 25 years, so I'm no beginner. But, I've only done basic serging and a rolled hem or two. Amy Alan is very personable and knows her stuff. She helps you get to know your serger by discussing all the parts and how your serger works. Basic stitches, decorative stitches and troubleshooting are all covered. Amy spends a lot of time demonstrating how to properly thread your serger for each different type of stitch and encourages students to make samples for later reference. There's also a bonus lesson which discusses serger feet. When I first watched this class, I had just bought a new Babylock Enlighten which operates a lot differently from your basic serger. Now that I have a basic serger again, I need to watch the lessons again -- especially the ones on adjusting serger tension. The last few lessons give demonstrations for a few projects. I enjoyed making the exposed zipper bag.
