This first part of the class covers basic information, including how to pin baste a quilt. This demonstration alone was worth the price of the class to me personally, because her method actually made sense to me and seemed doable. She takes her time and explains step-by-step how she attaches the quilt sandwich to the table to make sure that it stays flat and secure. One tip that she mentions is using clamps used by rv'ers for keeping their tablecloth from blowing off the picnic table. She uses these clamps to attach her quilt to the table. I'm a camper and knew exactly what item she was referring to. They are cheap and easy to find and that's what I use now. It seems like every quilter has his/her own unique method of basting their quilts, but her method works for me and I've been doing it her way ever since I took this class. Other basics are also discussed, including threads and machine tension and techniques and tools.

I enjoyed this class even though I never will come close to attaining this skill level of free motion quilting. Cindy Needham is so talented and makes it look so easy, but it's not easy for me. Her feathers are just perfect, as are her stippling and other quilting designs. I'm still in the learning stage with free motion quilting, so watching her work was truly inspirational. Cindy really enjoys whole cloth quilting, which doesn't appeal to me at all. But, I enjoyed seeing her beautiful samples. She also covers quilt stencils and how to make them fit your borders, which was helpful to me. Other lessons cover backgrounds and design basics. I thought this was a very comprehensive, informative class.

Hello and thank you for your review. I've enrolled in this class, and like the other reviewer I haven't started the class yet. I did see a short video of Cindy Needham on the Superior Thread website. Her work is amazing and the whole cloth is really stunning. She has such a pleasant, calm and competent approach and I'm really pleased that she and Craftsy have offered this class. Thanks again.

Thanks for a super review. Cindy is great. I was blessed to take a class with her at our quilt festival last year and it was just great. I have signed up for this, but haven't seen much of it yet.
