Customer service is atrocious. The workers at the cutting table were saying disparaging things about a couple of women as they left the cutting counter. The fabric was being purchased for a family funeral. The fabric was not cut straight and the clerk at the register said there was nothing she could do. My daughter who witnessed both the poor treatment and poor customer service wrote to the corporate office to complain about the quality of workmanship and the utter lack of customer service.
Corporate wrote back and said they were sorry she hadn't enjoyed her shipping experience and hoped that her next visit would be more satisfying. Needless to say there will not be another trip.

Katey said... I have had similar experiences here at the Joann's in Orange, CA and Irvine, CA. I actually took a photo of the fabric and a copy of the receipt and sent it to our County Weights and Measures to investigate. Joann's is a poorly run store with cheap products and no service. On a different visit, they had the pattern catalogs out but no patterns in the bin. I took photos and wrote a letter just as your smart daughter did. All I got was the same, "so sorry". They are not initiating any improvements, nor will they. The family sold the company to another conglomerate that owns other large companies, so now its just another big, bloated, unresponsive company that is poorly run. Such a shame for those of us who enjoy sewing. 2/3/13 5:21 PM

I was there one day and had ordered a bolt of fabric a few weeks earlier so I stopped in to see if it was there. The girl at the counter, without looking up from picking her cuticles, said, "Did we call you?"
I replied, "Not that I know of, but I live pretty far out and was in town so I thought I would check."
"Well, if we didn't call you it's not here."
I finally insisted and asked to speak to the manager, his response? "If we didn't call you it isn't here."
Finally I bitched loudly enough that someone went to check in the storeroom and lo and behold, there it was....Haven't been back since and that was 4 years ago. We have some of the best fabric stores available here and they act like they're the only game in town, not hardly!!! 2/7/13 8:29 AM
