Have you bought anything from this store? If yes were the prices competitive? Yes, I've shopped at this store a number of times. They call themselves a "Fine Fabric Store" and that is exactly what they are. They have beautiful, quality fabrics. They don't carry patterns from the big four, but they do carry patterns from independent designers and some Burda patterns. They carry beautiful buttons, not the junk that you find in the two big "craft" stores. They don't carry all the notions that you find in those stores, but that is okay, the notions that they do carry are quality and believe me you want them. They have a website that those of you not close enough to Tulsa can still shop at. If you need to feel the fabric or want to be sure the color is just perfect, they will send you fabric swatches. They cut the fabric on the grain; yes, they pull the thread and follow the line across the fabric so you know when you buy a yard of fabric, you have a yard of fabric. Yes, their fabric is more than you would pay at the two big "craft" stores, but the quality of the fabric and the service is so much better, that it is well worth it.
Were the sales people polite and friendly?Yes, they are very friendly and knowledgeable. They sew their own clothes and are almost always dressed in something that they made from the fabrics at the store using the patterns that they carry. They will help you find just the right fabric to go with another fabric, then they will help you choose from the many buttons that they have, plus thread to use, then they will cut it on grain and package it in a nice paper bag with a handle. They do this with great patience, kindness, and a smile on their faces and in their voices.
How would you rate the quality of the item this store sells? The Cloth Merchants sells high quality fabric with high quality service.
How was your shopping experience. Is there anything you did not like about this store?Obviously, my shopping experience with them has always been wonderful. In addition to fabrics, buttons, and quality notions, they also have books & DVDs, plus fitting and sewing classes. My friend and I attended a weekend retreat at The Cloth Merchants this last weekend and absolutely loved it. Louise Cutting was the instructor and she was fantastic. We were treated by Debbie and Nancy, the owners, and their staff as if we were their very welcome guests. The class room was set up beautifully and it was a pleasure to sew there. They thought of everything, great lighting, wonderfully comfortable chairs, cutting tables, irons and ironing boards. Even snacks just waiting for us in a break room. Not to mention two nice big bathrooms and nice sewing tables that didn't vibrate with two sewing machines going at the same time.
Would you shop here again? Oh, yes, I will be going back. I've also decided that they will be getting most of my internet fabric shopping from now on.
Would you recommend this store to others? If you are within a reasonable drive (I'm two hours away.), love beautiful fabric, and love to sew, you must go to The Cloth Merchant or at the very least, visit their website.
Any other comments you would like to add?No, I am not an owner, an employee, and I don't have any investment in the store. I am simply a very, very happy customer that loves this store and I really need to win the lottery so I can quit work and spend all of my money at their store. The best fabric store I have ever shopped at.
