Cottonfield is located on a side street to the north as you exit the train station. It is divided into two sides: one side has fabrics and patterns and the other side has notions. And oh are there gorgeous things to choose from. Shelves full of Japanese cotton fabrics for quilting and garments on the bottom floor of the fabric side with home decor fabrics and notions upstairs. They also stock foreign fabrics from the USA, UK and France. They feature their own patterns and kits with all that you need to make the samples provided. Their directions are great even if you don't read Japanese. (plenty of illustrations to guide you). They accept credit cards, so shop to your hearts delight. They also stock half meter and quarter meter cuts if you must have lots and can't make up your mind. This shop is worth the 40 minute train ride from Tokyo central.

	VivianZ said... Oh Darn! I wish I had known this when I was in Japan in September. I asked our host where I could find a fabric store, and her answer was to give me 7 bolts of silk kimono fabric. They are lovely, and I am so thankful for such a lovely gift, but they are 15 inches wide and all I really wanted was a fabric store. 2/19/13 8:24 AM
