Have you bought anything from this store? If yes were the prices competitive? I've been to this Jomar several times and it is an urban adventure. The prices are dirt cheap. I signed up on their website to get e-mail alerts. This past President's Day weekend, they had an enticing 50% off sale. I bought 24 yards of fabric for $37. I use a lot of the knit fabric for muslins and it's actually cheaper than muslin.
Were the sales people polite and friendly? No one walked the floor but there were two gentlemen behind the counter cutting fabric and ringing up sales. The ones I talked to weren't very conversant, in fact I couldn't understand my guy, but they were really generous cutters. I jumped in and folded my own fabric and put the bolts back so I like to think they rewarded my helpfulness by giving me a few extra yards. Yes that's right, a few extra yards. I was shocked when I got home to wash and catalog my goods.
How would you rate the quality of the item this store sells? This is a warehouse style shopping experience. The fabric quality varies greatly but if you're willing to deal with the dust and dig in the remnant piles you can find some gems.
How was your shopping experience. Is there anything you did not like about this store?Unfortunately none of the fabrics are identified by fiber content. It is organized by general type: knits, upholstery, linen, calico, etc. Also the fabric section is on the second floor of the warehouse and I swear that staircase is not up to code. It's sturdy enough but the steps are different heights and really steep. Don't wear heels.
Would you shop here again?Definitely. I'll watch the sales and come back.
Would you recommend this store to others? It's not for the faint of heart. The store is located in an industrial area and is a little rough. There is no guarantee that you'll find something specific.
Any other comments you would like to add? If you go via public transportation bring a sturdy shopping bag because that yardage gets heavy. Also bring hand sanitizer and a sense of humor.
