Lilies of the Field is a quilt shop that I had been wanting to visit for some time. I ended up having a meeting right down the street so I walked in. It's funny, I have a wonderful relationship with the ladies of my "regular" fabric store, and walking into another one was like visiting a new friends home for the first time. But, I sure am glad I did. First, though not a quilter, the work displayed was absolutely breathtaking. Not only that, but the fabrics..just the most gorgeous, and highest quality quilting cottons I have ever seen. I bought 4 different pieces, all handpainted. One looks like a beach scene.

Quilting cottons are not my go to style, and the most I have used them for apparel is really for dresses for little girls, and of course I use them for the many, many bags I make. Though I'm always, i mean always buy fabric on sale (I DON'T BUY IT IF IT'S NOT!!), I actually shelled out for this at full cost, and knew it was worth every penny.

Lilies of the field is also a BERNINA DEALER, with many machines set up and ready to take for a test drive. Most of all, the women that were there were more than friendly, and didn't treat me as an imposter. In fact, the woman that was working there that day shared with me she too had always been one to make clothing, and had ventured out into quilting in the past few years. Since my Aunt is an incredibly gifted quilter, I could appreciate the work and detail in the pieces that were displayed. The other thing I really liked was that every lady that walked through the door knew each other, and you could tell that this was truly not just a store, but a community gathering place for people that love to do the same thing. And like I said, it seems they are more than happy to open that circle for a newcomer!

A must visit, if you are on your way to OCEAN CITY MARYLAND, or the beaches of Delaware like REHOBOTH, DEWEY, BETHANY, etc..you would pass Easton on your way most likely, close to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It's well worth a place to stretch your legs!!

Nice review! I'll stop in if I'm in the area and I sometimes am.
