Brensan Basic Long Sleeve Shirt
 |
A Shirt Club Pattern - Another great basic, make this shirt with the stand and collar - with just the stand - or without either! A long sleeve with standard one-button cuff is also a timeless classic you will use for many years. Don't let the fact that this shirt uses a Collar Stand scare you! The traditional method of attaching a collar stand can be quite a challenge - even to an experienced sewer. May the sewing gurus forgive me, but I prefer to use a facing - it's much easier to get a beautiful finished neckline - and with the traditional facing method you can make a shirt without either the stand or the collar - just a simple jewel neckline - the facings go all the way around so you get 3 shirts in 1 pattern. I hope you have success with my method!

This long-line, flowing A-line skirt is reminiscent of the flattering styles of the 40's. The knee-length version is a fun summer skirt or a great business skirt, while the boot-length version is flattering to all figure shapes with it's long lines. Mix and match the layers for dozens of different looks - you can even add lace for a soft touch at the hemline. The knee-length version works well in cottons or crisp fabrics, but the boot-length version does need a fabric with more drape such as rayon, tencels, wools, etc.

Inspired by the traditional Japanese Kimono, this Wearable Art Jacket has a few modifications that make it more practical for everyday wear. The shoulders are slightly dropped so there is freedom of movement in the shoulder and underarm area. The kimono sleeves are slightly smaller around and are shortened just a bit so they won't get into things when you reach for something. Instead of the traditional band at the neckline, we opted for a gentle jewel-neck which makes it easier to select a blouse to wear underneath the jacket. This jacket can be lined or unlined.

Brensan Wrong Sarong Skirt
 |
This skirt LOOKS like a South Pacific Sarong - but WEARS like a fitted skirt. The Skirt Front is attached at the side seam (under the Pleated Outer Layers) - so there is no gaping when you walk or sit. There is a hidden walking vent so you still have lots of movement. The closure is a completely hidden (very easy!) zipper in the front of the skirt so you don't have to reach around to zip-up. Even better, you can make the skirt with both of the front layers as shown, with the middle layer in a contrasting fabric - or you can make the skirt with only the Contrast Layer (darted/no pleats) for a more tailored, "business skirt" look. The Pleated Version works will in Batiks, but would be wonderful in a soft fabric to show off the "swag" created by the bias pleats of the Sarong.

Fitted through the waist and hip area for a smooth, slimming profile - with flare designed into the lower layers for a slight fullness. There are no darts at the waist, so fitting is all on the side seam. The optional contrast strips between the layers add a bit of fun. This skirt works well in cottons for a fun, summer skirt. The lower fullness in the skirt, is really at it's best when made up in a softer fabric with more drape and is quite professional or elegant - depending on the fabric of choice.
