how do you select your size? (Moderated by Sharon1952)

Just discovered the McCall's patterns I purchased from Hobby Lobby are missing information as the lovely checker cut all the envelope flaps off. She said they needed the flaps for inventory purposes.
What I do have are the finished garment measurements since they are printed on the back of the envelope. I looked on the website and found finished measurements but didn't immediately find the size chart there.
Is the finished measurement the better size selection method, or should I explain that I need the flap printed size chart and try to get all of these exchanged? I have about 10 in all, some misses, some children's and one formal/bridal.

McCall's measurement charts are here, but personally, I would try to exchange the patterns for envelopes with the flaps so I would have the info where I expected it. Hobby Lobby should keep inventory either via their computer system, by counting what's in the drawer, or by the checker writing patterns sold on a list.

Debbie, I couldn't help but respond but only because I have a rant against Hobby Lobby which Leora's problem supports. They are so antiquated! You'd think they would get into the modern world as far as computerized receipts instead of like an old time grocery store. I hate not knowing what I bought and then just try to take something back! There is absolutely no way of knowing which item you purchased. It also is left up to the individual checker to know what is on sale and what isn't and it drives me nuts that I have to watch them like a hawk. I have quit going there as much because of these reasons and it's too bad, because they really do have a better selection of craft items and flower stuff.

Debbie, thanks for the link to the size charts.
I found another McCall's pattern in my drawer with flap intact. If the size charts are going to be good across the misses patterns then I'll be OK.
And your reply confirms to choose by the size chart not by the finished garmet measurements.
I don't shop there very often. I doubt I will again because these won't be resellable if I ever decide to purge 'em.
