Hi, I love talking about fabric , are you a stasher, or buy as you go.
I don't drive so I'm a stasher,but mostly on line,no shops close,I've
only been quilting for 5 years, sewing for over 30. I love my stash.
I see strictly from stash, control scrappy, and I have followed a pattern
a time or to.3 yards is what I buy, if a blender more, I have a huge stash.
Because I still have my garment fabric also, but just quilting fabric med.
I also make tote bags and other stuff. My stash grow every month .
Tell me about your stash, has it grown???

Mine is kind of static. I get uncomfortable if I have too much. Love having a good variety, but it must all fit in my fabric shelf unit. So, I go through phases of sewing it up, then will buy more to fill in the gaps. Same with garment fabric, don't like too much stash so keep myself in check with fabric that does not have a defined purpose.

I understand controlling stash,I'm the same way, sew up a bunch
before buying more, helps to control stash,I buy more blender and
solids, love them, like to buy everything else has I kinda go.

I have a pretty large stash of quilting cotton and scrap-sized pieces. I keep it organized by color so that I can find what I want. Two weekends ago, I went to an estate sale and bought a lot of fat-quarter size pieces--spent $35 and got a LOT of nice fabric in shades of tan, ecru, brown, rust, ochre, and some dark green.

Here is my stash, as of about six weeks ago. It has changed slightly--I've used up a few in my latest project... and bought a few more for the next one.
I just finished my second quilt top. I made my first quilt last fall (Christmas gift). And yet apparently I've been stashing quilt fabrics for decades. WHY??
Until recently, there was clearly no rhyme or reason to what I was buying, and yet it was fun going through everything and sorting them by color/type. I have a fair amount of novelty prints... but also a large stash of pale green, for some reason. I'm drawn to William Morris type prints and warm woodsy colors. The quilt top I just finished used up an olive Morris print I've had for almost 20 years, some newish brown damask, and the orange/black check.
Newly stashed fabrics include several lime green and aqua prints for an upcoming quilt, each acquired separately... yet when I laid them all out together, I realized they were all paisley/damasky sorts of prints. I guess we all have particular leanings!
One thing I have always loved about quilting fabric is that it allowed me to indulge in small cuts of beautiful fabric that I loved, but weren't otherwise suitable for the types of sewing that I did (mainly historical costuming). I didn't have to buy 4-5 yards of that glorious brown granite print; a $3 FQ was just enough.
...Except I actually have 3/4 y of that particular granite print, because I actually bought it twice. Oops!

Oooh, those are my colors! I just finished this quilt top in brown, rust, olive, and dark green.
(I did not need to know about estate sales. So far I have been resisting--even managed to stay away from the retired Renfair costume mistress's sale--but... yeah.)

Unfortunately for me i never met a color i didn't like when it comes to quilting, because there are so many unexpected combinations. It made some of my early effort epic failures of color because they were generally too busy and too mid tone.
I got bettter at editing now and using contrast better. Im still easily influenced by all colors and types but if i put my stash in a big pile (maybe several piles) I think the indigo and saturated blues would win followed by sage and jade shades of green.
Hand dyed and batiks i also love for their versatility and linen blends when i want a solid with texture.

Every picture worth a thousand words... or fabrics

Mostly fat quarters or 1/2 to 2 yard cuts. Doesn't show batiks or Kaffe Fassett collections.
