DC4030P (Moderated by Sharon1952, EleanorSews)

I realize that the DC4030P is not a really "fancy" machine with all the bells and whistles. I've only had mine about a month, but I have completed 2 projects on it that were started with a vintage machine.
I don't feel I've had it long enough and done enough with it to complete a good review, but so far, I am pleasantly surprised. The machine can plow through thick layers using the walking foot without hesitation. I've only had issues with disalignment of fabric that is heavily quilted using the walking foot, but admittedly a quilting foot and feed dog drop would be more appropriate.
One thing I have noticed regardless of the thickness is the precision of the stitch top and bottom - it is BEAUTIFUL and even. The machine is very intuitive and very user friendly. I'm looking forward to a very long relationship with it, and am thankful for it. I have loved my vintage machines, but this machine seems to have brought back my love for sewing. I had pretty much quit. Now I look forward to spending time with this machine at least a little each day.

I am happy to read your comments on this sewing machine. I have been looking at it online for quite some time. Seems to have just what I need and easy to use, but I was concerned about the piercing power. I too enjoy my vintage machines, so your perspective meant something to me that I could relate too. I have some fancier machines that are way overkill with the type of sewing I do. This 4030p has always had my interest.

Congrats! There's nothing like a new machine to get your sewing mojo back. Enjoy!

You really chose the right SM. It was my first choice too, but DH didn't like the way it looks and purchased a MC5200 as our first mutual SM.
If I am correct it has automatic tension control, so that's a real plus.
Many happy sewing hours with your DC4030P and I am looking out for your review
