I am embroidering some font on a large (6x10) hoop on a knit. I put tearaway on the back since the back may be seen. (It's a prayer cover.) I put a clear topper on it. The piece started to jam up the bobbin. I don't really want to use cutaway since it will show. Do you think Badgemaster would work? I will be doing multiple pieces

If you can get the July 2017 issue of Threads magazine, (#191) they have an article on embroidering on knits of all types, even stitching on delicate knits without a hoop. I just received the newest issue, so this article may even be on their website. I would get into this, but the article is lengthy, and it depends on the type of knit. It is written by Angela Wolf, and she also talks about needles, thread, design density, placement of the design, and has a list of many types of stabilizers. I do not embroider, otherwise I would attempt to put this in a nutshell for you. I did not see Badgemaster listed. Hope this helps.

No, you really need a cutaway for a knit. That's the first rule of stabilizing is cutaway for knits. If the back is going to show, cover it with cover a stitch.

I do a lot of embroidery and have always used fusible mesh or sprayed not fusible mesh. Depending on density of the knit I will use two layers, one horizontal and one vertical. I would use soft cover stitch if it was going to show on back. Use color of fabric in your bobbin and your embroidery will not show as much. I typically always use black or white on my 10 needle, but on my BL Destiny I use bobbin color according to fabric. I hope this helps.
